Normally, I’m pretty basic when it comes to toothbushes. I typically use the ones I get from the dentist or standard ones from the store. I haven’t used an electric toothbrush in years. So, when I got the opportunity to try one (and a very unique one at that), I went for it! I’ve been testing the Foreo Issa for a few weeks now and it’s definitely a different experience than your average toothbrush. Will I trade in my basic toothbrush for exclusive use of the Issa? About Foreo Issa
A new type of electric toothbrush featuring silicone bristles with pulsation technology. The Issa cleans and whitens teeth while massaging the gums to maintain gum health. It’s said to be gentler and more hygienic than standard nylon toothbrushes, which tend to be more harsh on gums and can harbor bacteria.

How You Use It
You can use your normal toothpaste with the Issa. Press the center button to turn it on and adjust intensity by pressing the + or – buttons. You’ll brush your teeth in quadrants, using it like a manual toothbrush. Every 30 seconds there will be a pause in pulsations, signaling you to move to the next quadrant. You’ll brush for a total of 2 minutes and then the pulsations will pause 3 times, indicating that you’re done. Then, just turn it off with the center button.
My Thoughts
I was intrigued by this toothbrush from the start because of its uniqueness. The design is beautiful and modern-looking. I feel like it does a better job at keeping my gums healthy, which is important. On the other hand, it’s hard to tell if the bristles are actually reaching everywhere they need to as they’re wide, flat, and rubbery. I’m unsure how well my teeth are being cleaned, especially by the gum line. My teeth feel clean immediately after using the Issa. Although, after a few uses, it seems like there’s some buildup in certain places. I haven’t noticed my teeth getting any whiter since using it either. I also haven’t found any information on how long it takes to see results of whiter teeth.
I love that the Issa is easy to clean and that I don’t have to change the brush head very often. I also like that there are multiple speeds to choose from when using it. One small thing I don’t like is that using the Issa seems to be messier than my usual brushing routine. It’s not a deal breaker – just an observation.
So, in conclusion, I’ve decided that I’ll use my regular toothbrush and add the Issa into my routine a couple times a week, mainly for gum massage. I’d also like to keep using it to see if my teeth get whiter over time.
