8 Men’s Grooming Products We Love!

You’ve seen us feature a lot of girly stuff here at Peek & Ponder, but now it’s time to add a male perspective to the site. You might’ve caught our newest team member Donny’s latest culinary creation (this amazing chicken alfredo recipe). Not only will he be sharing his delicious food discoveries with us, but he’ll also be testing products and giving his insights about them. Here are 8 men’s grooming products he uses regularly and loves! Take it away, Donny….

1. Bath & Body Works Bourbon 2-in-1 Hair + Body Wash

A wash from BBW’s Men’s Collection that can be used on hair and body with scents of white pepper, dark amber, and Kentucky oak.

Donny’s thoughts: I really enjoy this product from BBW! It is versatile in that you can use it both on the hair and body. The scent of this hair and body wash is very rustic and masculine. It is powerful in the sense that if you forget to put on your cologne before leaving for the day, you are still covered. It keeps my skin and hair moisturized and smelling great throughout the whole day. (And Ashley’s loves it too!)

 

2. Jack Black Supreme Cream Triple Cushion Shave Lather

Macadamia nut oil, glycerin, and soybean oil team up in this shave lather for a smooth, close shave and protection against irritation, razor burn, and cuts. The rich, creamy formula allows for a luxurious lather that leaves skin soft and hydrated. It can be applied with or without a brush.

Donny’s thoughts: I am impressed with Jack Black’s Supreme Cream Shave Lather. For the most part I always used aerosol shave gels, but I have now turned away from those because of this product. Unlike shave gels, which tend to dry my skin out, this cream feels hydrating, soothing, and nourishing to my skin. Coming from a guy with thick facial hair you can take my word for it, that this product will make your morning shaving routine effortless and even better when combined with a shave brush.

 

3. Van Der Hagen Luxury Badger Shave Set

This set contains items to aide in a perfect shave. It includes a pure badger hair brush that massages the beard and spreads an even lather; a hypoallergenic luxury shave soap that contains nourishing ingredients to help reduce razor bumps; an apothecary mug designed for maximum foam buildup; and an acrylic stand to hold a razor and the badger brush from this set.

Donny’s thoughts: I have always wanted to try a shave brush so I’m glad there was one included in this set. This is the perfect group of products that I think every fellow man should try out. It is luxurious and affordable which is a combo you cannot deny. The brush is soft enough that it doesn’t scratch my skin but tough enough to massage and create the best lather. The shave soap is ideal for men with sensitive skin and have a hard time finding a shave soap that works for them. The shave soap paired with the badger tail brush makes the prefect combo to provide a comfortable shaving experience. The mug helps to create the best lather as it holds the soap in place while you swirl the brush around it.  And of course it’s nice to have a stand for holding the brush and your favorite shaver too.

4. Jack Black Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer

A lightweight moisturizer, perfect for daily use and suitable for all skin types. It provides moisture to the skin for a healthy-looking, shine-free finish, while also improving skin tone and texture along the way.

Donny’s thoughts: What I really enjoy after a good shaving experience is using an after shave that is not overbearing and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily. This Jack Black Clean Break Oil-Free Moisturizer does just that! Since it’s oil-free, my skin is left feeling fresh and moisturized without the oily feeling that other after shaves give me. It also improves the way my skin looks and feels throughout the day with regular use after every shave. It is perfect for any guy who is looking for an aftershave that gives you all the benefits of moisturized, healthy skin without the oily overbearing scents that other brands offer.

 

5. Azzaro Wanted Cologne

A bold and powerful scent with top notes of lemon and ginger, mixed with cardamom, tonka bean, and juniper for an irresistible, masculine blend that you can’t get enough of!

Donny’s thoughts: I simply love this cologne! The Wanted cologne by Azzaro will always have a spot in my collection. The scent is very masculine and is powerful in the sense you don’t need to put a lot on, which is fantastic as it will last a long time. I found it to be very long-lasting as I can still smell it well after the work day. This cologne is a must have in every man’s collection and your S.O. will love it too!

Ashley’s note: This is one of the best-smelling men’s colognes I’ve ever experienced! It’s a clean, fresh, enticing scent that never gets old. I love when Donny wears it.

 

6. Jack Black Turbo Body Bar Scrubbing Soap

An exfoliating, deep-cleansing bar that uses Lava Rock to gently scrub and polish skin as Shea Butters nourish and hydrate skin. Blue Lotus and ginkgo biloba energize and stimulate the senses. Skin is left feeling clean, smooth, and healthy.

Donny’s thoughts: I never came across a bar of body soap that worked for me, until I found this one. The lava rock in this soap perfectly scrubs my skin while the Shea Butters nourish and hydrate it. Other bars of soap failed in the sense that they left my skin feeling dry and rough, which is where the Jack Black Body Bar excels. My skin feels smooth and healthy!

 

7. Wahl Micro GroomsMan Lithium Personal Trimmer

A slim trimmer for ear, nose, and brow that includes 3 interchangeable heads. Can also be used to detail side burns, goatees, mustaches, and necklines.

Donny’s thoughts: This is the best compact trimmer I have ever used. I have used other ones before but I found that they did not trim as well and would eventually get hot after a few minutes of use. Not to mention, they did not offer many different attachments. This Wahl Micro GroomsMan Personal Trimmer is just what I am wanting in a compact trimmer.  It is lightweight, durable, and very easy to use. This is my go-to trimmer everyday and when I travel because it is so compact!

 

8. Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Power Razor with Flexball Technology

5 anti-friction blades reach almost every hair thanks to Flexball technology that helps the razor pivot around every contour.

Donny’s thoughts: The Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Power razor is by far my favorite razor to use. I am a man with thick facial hair so a razor that does not snag on me has been hard to find. When Gillette came out with the first Fusion ProGlide power technology, my search for the best razor was over. I did not think something could be better than the Fusion ProGlide Power, but Gillette never ceases to amaze. They have now come out with a 5 blade version with modern Flexball technology that allows the razor to contour to any facial surface. I was hesitant to believe that more blades would help, but for me, it makes a big difference and does not tug me at all. I also enjoy the power of it as it vibrates the blades for an even closer shave. This Gillette Fusion5 ProGlide Power Razor is the key to my morning shave routine. I no longer dread  shaving.
