My hair care routine needed a change. A big one. Why? Well I have dry, naturally wavy hair that I usually blowdry and straighten on a daily basis. That combo is likely to cause damage over time. After my regular routine of shampoo-condition-blow dry-straighten, my hair ends up flat and weighed down most of the time. My “good hair days” aren’t even that great because I’m not achieving full, bouncy, volumized locks.  As a girl who’s always keeping up with the latest beauty trends online, I came across the reverse washing concept and it intrigued me. Would this solve my hair woes? Thanks to TRESemme, I was able to try the TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Collection, which supports the reverse washing method.

What is Reverse Washing?

Reverse washing is where you use conditioner before shampoo – a pretty simple concept. The result? More volume, less weight. TRESemmé made things really easy and specifically designed products in their Beauty-Full Volume Collection to be used this way!

How to Reverse Wash

1. Apply your conditioner! I applied the Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner  to wet hair in order to soften strands and reinforce their natural protective layer. I love the feeling of this particular conditioner on my hair. It spreads out and coats my hair nicely while filling the shower with an energizing scent.
2. Cleanse that mane with shampoo! The Beauty-Full Volume Shampoo cleanses and removes excess weight from your hair as it leaves a light conditioning layer on the surface. Hair is left with bounce and volume, minus static. This shampoo foams up well and feels great on my hair. After rinsing, I can feel that it’s more weightless than normal.
   It doesn’t have to stop there though. I used the rest of the Beauty-Full Volume Collection to finish things off, ensuring maximum benefit from using the full system.

Before drying, I use the Beauty-Full Volume Hair Maximizer. It does a number of awesome things: it provides bounce, frizz control, smoothness, and manageability. It’s used pre-blowdry to give lift and a touchable finish. Just a small amount is needed to cover hair (even with my long mane) and I feel that it’s definitely a necessary step!

For lift and hold, I apply Beauty-Full Volume Touchable Bounce Mousse which is used to give lift to the roots and maintain a light hold, leaving hair with touchable bounce. It doesn’t add any extra weight to my hair; I can’t even feel it there!

The finishing touch is the Beauty-Full Volume Flexible Finish Hairspray which holds the finished style with a flexible finish that maintains hair’s natural movement and softness. No crunchy feeling and everything stays in place.

My Results

My hair has so much more volume and fullness after using this method along with these products. Even when I straighten my hair, it doesn’t fall flat; it still feels light and airy. There’s bounce and movement in my hair unlike before. I can even leave my hair natural and it’s not frizzy looking – which is why I even straightened it in the first place! I’m going to continue to use this method in my daily routine to see how it benefits my hair after a long period of time.

Should you try it?

Yes, you should! Sometimes, in order to make a difference in hair health, all you really have to do is switch things up a little. It doesn’t have to be complicated and this certainly is not. I was pleasantly surprised by the difference it made to my hair and you might be as well.
